Hi,
Have any of you news about the integration of ExtJS4 and OpenLayers?
All I can find is this old blog post of GeoExt[1] but it doesn't seem
a very alive project[2]. Now that we have OL3 and ExtJS4, I don't
think GeoExt will be able to update fast enough
With the new CSS and HTML5 functionality, maybe we should forget about
GeoExt and just use OL. At least on the html5 ui. That will probably
mean drop most of the map functionality on IE8 and maybe not have a
full functionality on IE9[3], but we can always have a nice
degradation for old IEs, maybe even using GeoExt for them.
So, what do you think? Should we move over GeoExt or should we try to revive it?

For my self I am +1 to for moving to OL but there are others more invested in the UI.

Hi,
GeoExt was introduced when we moved from Intermap and we were looking
for a "classic" mapviewer with layer tree, legend, info tool, ...
which maybe now sounds too complex ?
Now, it looks like some of us are also looking toward improving the UI
to be "responsive", "accessible". Some other communities like
geOrchestra (which provides a nice mapviewer [1] combined with
GeoNetwork) and probably others ... have the same issue about what to
do next when using Ext and GeoExt.
That's probably a good topic for Bolsena !

Hi all, some news about this topic from the Bolsena codesprint. With
Florent, we have been investigating the use of Bootstrap, AngularJS,
OL3 and d3 to improve the UI. Some video of the prototype:
* GeoNetwork prototype UI using AngularJS and Bootstrap
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5R3XnMZFdug
* Prototyped dashboard using AngularJS and d3.js
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJKrbUZCSVI
* Add a no-javascript mode to GeoNetwork AngularJS prototype (some
people are looking for pure HTML apps !)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YfF24j7t4o
This was also the occasion to discuss how to simplify and better
organize the XSLT layer.
Cheers.

Congratulations! It looks really promising, I think this would be a big step fordward for Geonetwork.
