[GeoNetwork-devel] Release version 3.4.0?

Hi,

What are the plans for 3.4.0? I know Jose is working on a 3.2.2 and we
discussed in Bolsena about moving to 3.4-stable and 3.6-develop.

I'm asking because of
https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/pull/2143#issuecomment-326976965
and many other PR I have queued to have the draft feature on the
editor. If there are no immediate plans for 3.4 I would propose to
start accepting my PR or it will deviate again too much.

So, who is interested in 3.4?

Regards,
María.

Hi,

We are working on develop to release 2 big catalogs on production, geocat.ch should be on November and Ifremer on October.
We thought that releasing thoses catalogs would assure good stability (we recently fixed huge amounts of bugs in the editor) and allow us to release the GN 3.4.0. So quite soon I would say.

For now, we could do a 3.4.x branch with the state of develop that will lead to a stable version, kind of alpha.
Do you want your stuff in next release ? Is it stable enough to put it in develop if we have for example a release in the next 2 months ?

I have a long list of PR pending that are concatenated. Waiting 2
months is not a good approach, new things will come that will force me
to do a lot of re-merging.

As far as I know, my PRs will not break anything, but that's what PRs
are for, to make sure  If you are afraid of this changes bringing
unstability then maybe we should already create 3.4.x and start
merging my PRs in develop.

Hi, the refactoring of DataManager sounds good and the draft copy PR has been around for quite some times.
As Florent said, having a 3.4.0 release end of October/November match a number of projects planning we’re working on.
If we merge this PRs on develop and make 3.4 after, it will require some merge work on probably all projects, and it would require to finalize the draft work before 3.4. Not sure it is feasible to have it ready and tested before November ?

It is probably safer to

  • make 3.4.x branch now
  • plan the 3.4.0 in 2 months
  • include the draft workspace in develop and once done, we can decide to make new release

Hi,

Fine for me. The following PRs are harder. So just create 3.4.0 with
whatever you want and let me know when I can merge my PR to develop.

Dear all, there was some discussions on 3.4.0 release here and there.

I would propose to make it next week as there was lots of testing on ifremer, geocat.ch, ngr, eea, iow, metawal, … in the last 2 months.

Please raise any PR or issues which should be merged/fixed before that ? currently 3 PR
https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+milestone%3A3.4.0

https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+milestone%3A3.4.0

If not solved on 3.4.0, we will move them to 3.4.1 milestone.

I could take care of making the release on Wednesday or Thursday.

Does it sounds good to you ?

Dear all, there was some discussions on 3.4.0 release here and there.

I would propose to make it next week as there was lots of testing on ifremer, geocat.ch, ngr, eea, iow, metawal, … in the last 2 months.

Please raise any PR or issues which should be merged/fixed before that ? currently 3 PR
https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/pulls?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr+milestone%3A3.4.0

https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+milestone%3A3.4.0

If not solved on 3.4.0, we will move them to 3.4.1 milestone.

I could take care of making the release on Wednesday or Thursday.

Does it sounds good to you ?

Hi, the refactoring of DataManager sounds good and the draft copy PR has

As Florent said, having a 3.4.0 release end of October/November match a
number of projects planning we’re working on.
If we merge this PRs on develop and make 3.4 after, it will require some
merge work on probably all projects, and it would require to finalize the
draft work before 3.4. Not sure it is feasible to have it ready and tested
before November ?

It is probably safer to

  • make 3.4.x branch now
  • plan the 3.4.0 in 2 months
  • include the draft workspace in develop and once done, we can decide to
    make new release

We thought that releasing thoses catalogs would assure good stability

For now, we could do a 3.4.x branch with the state of develop that will

Do you want your stuff in next release ? Is it stable enough to put it

I have a long list of PR pending that are concatenated. Waiting 2
months is not a good approach, new things will come that will force me
to do a lot of re-merging.

As far as I know, my PRs will not break anything, but that’s what PRs
are for, to make sure  If you are afraid of this changes bringing
unstability then maybe we should already create 3.4.x and start
merging my PRs in develop.
