Dear all,
I’m Antonio, a java developer at GeoCat and I recently joined the GeoNetwork Opensource community. In the last months I contributed to the project and I started to follow the community discussions. GeoNetwork is a great product with an amazing community. Personally, I’m very happy to be a part of it.
Last week, during our annual meeting at GeoCat, we discussed what could be improved in the project. One of the factors we identified is the Quality Assurance cycle. GeoCat has given me the opportunity to put some effort in improving this aspect. Which means from now I’ll try to help who works on the project, focusing mostly on the QA side of things and trying to identify potential improvements.
In the scope of my efforts I hope we’ll be able to come to an agreement on a code of conduct for development within the project. This will make my work easier and will greatly benefit the product and potential new developers on the project. The idea is to find the right balance between the needs from the different entities (developers, companies, businesses…) and the open source philosophy. We know, sometimes rules are easy to follow, sometimes not: sometimes they protect development and sometimes, in name of same development, are ignored. That’s why GeoCat wants to put some effort to understand evolving needs in community and to help the search for better solutions.
Let me know if you have any thoughts on this and please join us in this effort

Hi,
I have to say this is a good idea. Antonio has long experience with complex Java projects and he will have a fresh point of view on how to handle the project. We have been very chaotic and this is not good in the long term.
