When discussing with some users they indicated that they were surprised by the fact that it is possible to update the category of a harvested record (by using bulk-update), because harvested records should be non-editable, as any change may get lost if an updated record is harvested. On the other hand categories aren’t metadata content, so you don’t really modify the record.
To verify:
- Is an assigned category persisted, even if an updated version of the record is harvested?
- Do people use this functionality, to assign categories after a record is harvested (usually categories are auto-assigned as part of the harvester configuration)
- Maybe the intention was to have it blocked already, because the modify-category-button is not available in single-metadata-view
The same discussion applies to assigning certain privileges and change ownership, should it be possible to assign specific privileges after a record is harvested?
