hi,
I wrote the ArcSDE harvesting function, using 4 jars that are proprietary
software by ESRI. That's why they are not committed to Geonetwork SVN.
They are :
concurrent.jar
icu4j_3_2.jar
jpe_sdk.jar
jsde_sdk.jar
I don't know if all 4 are really necessary but of course I have not
decompiled them, so couldn't tell you. Also I don't know how they relate to
your jsde9x.jar.
They must be in, or under, /web/geonetwork/WEB-INF/lib, indeed, as Mathieu
told you. I'd say try putting your jar there and let us know how it goes..
kind regards

Thanks to both. I placed these four jars in \lib, so now I can do the
connection to ArcSDE / 9.3, and this is what I get:
Connect to ArcSDE
start retrieve metadata
cool
Start of alignment for: SDEtest
ArcSDE harvest finished ///// after a couple of seconds
But, nothing have been harvested. I guess this could be due to my metadata
using a profile of ISO19115:2003. I have to check.

hi,
cool
it looks like it doesn't find any metadata in your arcsde database .. if you
like, I'll send you a custom version containing some more logging. But not
today or tomorrow, as I'm too busy ... over the weekend should be possible.

if you look in src\org\fao\geonet\arcgis\ArcSDEMetadataAdapter.java you can
see in which tables it looks for metadata and using which criteria.
it uses table : SDE.GDB_USERMETADATA
looking in column : SDE.GDB_USERMETADATA.XML
and only retrieves data from that column if it contains the string
"MD_Metadata".
Hope this helps,

Walter, sorry to be so coy but I was just out walking around and didn't have too many facts available in my little brain. (Evidence? I meant "dbtune" and not "sdetune.")
Anyway, quoting from http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisdesktop/9.3/index.cfm?TopicName=Configuring_a_PostgreSQL_database_to_support_XML_columns&anchor=cs164785 :
"The XML_DOC_UNCOMPRESSED_TYPE configuration parameter determines how the contents of XML documents will be stored. You can use either BINARY (a compressed storage type) or TEXT (an uncompressed storage type). If you use BINARY, data is stored as bytea data type. If you use TEXT, the data will be either Unicode or ASCII, depending on whether your database is set to store Unicode data (UTF-8) or not. If you are using ArcIMS Metadata Services, it is usually best to specify the BINARY type. However, if you are interested in building an index on the XML column in addition to the one created for the Metadata Service, you may want to use the uncompressed TEXT type so the information can be read directly.
For definitions of all the XML parameters for PostgreSQL, see the XML parameter section of PostgreSQL DBTUNE configuration parameters."
Obviously that's from the PostgreSQL help area, but I gather it's true for other RDBMSs as well. Plus, I'm not sure this is really the problem. Worth a try, though, and I'm excited to see you get through this issue.

Yes Miller. In sdetune Arcsde is configured to use SDEbinary...but I don't see the problem in doing that, could you give more details?

It would be of a great help. Thanks heikki.
The thing is that I have metadata in my ArcSDE, but I said..maybe the
problem is in my metadata files. On Thu, May 7, 2009 at 3:57 PM, heikki <tropicano@anonymised.com> wrote:
hi,
cool
it looks like it doesn't find any metadata in your arcsde database .. if
you like, I'll send you a custom version containing some more logging. But
not today or tomorrow, as I'm too busy ... over the weekend should be
possible.On Thu, May 7, 2009 at 3:54 PM, Walter Simonazzi <walter.simonazzi@anonymised.com567...>wrote:
Thanks to both. I placed these four jars in \lib, so now I can do the
connection to ArcSDE / 9.3, and this is what I get:Connect to ArcSDE

ArcSDE harvest finished ///// after a couple of secondsBut, nothing have been harvested. I guess this could be due to my metadata
using a profile of ISO19115:2003. I have to check.On Thu, May 7, 2009 at 3:26 PM, heikki <tropicano@anonymised.com> wrote:
hi,
I wrote the ArcSDE harvesting function, using 4 jars that are proprietary
software by ESRI. That's why they are not committed to Geonetwork SVN.They are :
concurrent.jar
icu4j_3_2.jar
jpe_sdk.jar
jsde_sdk.jarI don't know if all 4 are really necessary but of course I have not
decompiled them, so couldn't tell you. Also I don't know how they relate to
your jsde9x.jar.They must be in, or under, /web/geonetwork/WEB-INF/lib, indeed, as
Mathieu told you. I'd say try putting your jar there and let us know how it
goes..kind regards

Hi all,
I'm trying to check the new functionality of harvesting metadata
from....well, through ArcSDE. Does anyone knows where to put thejsde9x.jar?
