We are currently running GN4.2.5. We are getting user requests if the banner of random thumbnails on the opening screen can be of better resolution? We have been recommending thumbnails should be of jpeg file type and between 50K and 200K.
Is the thumbnail size recommendation reasonable?
What are the factors that govern the banner/thumbnail resolution?
In the worst case, can the banner thumbnails be suppressed? (we like the concept, but users would like a 'crispness')

Hi Terry, you can hide the overviews on the home page from the admin
console > settings > ui > Home > Show overview mosaic in home page.
The image size of 140px is hardcoded and set in OverviewIndexFieldUpdater.
So for now, there is no option to configure the size.
This is a small image added to the index and which is used in home page and
search results to speed up rendering of search results and avoid loading
large images.

Thank you, Francois. I had overlooked that setting.
I certainly agree the images should be small to facilitate fast rendering, and large images are to be avoided.
