[GeoNetwork-users] citing records correctly

What is the best way for a user to get a permalink to a metadata record on a geonetwork server?

The XML icon on a search result returns a link of the type:
https://secure.niwa.co.nz/niwa_dc/srv/en/iso19139.xml?id=19

but this id is not the identifier of the record just the database row.

By hand I can change the link to
http://dc.niwa.co.nz/niwa_dc/srv/en/iso19139.xml?uuid=90f1aadd-c2fa-4b2c-af83-5e2a5a98e89d

Which is a more accurate URL and likely to be more durable.
However this returns the raw xml wheras I might be more inclined to link people to the formatted service page

http://dc.niwa.co.nz/niwa_dc/srv/en/metadata.show?uuid=90f1aadd-c2fa-4b2c-af83-5e2a5a98e89d

Is there any way to easily allow users to pick up these better urls ?

This is on BlueNetMEST branch version.

If I understand your question...

BluenetMEST automatically adds a link to the "Point of truth URL of this metadata record", so for any record, if you click the download data button, one of the available options is this link.

eg: one such URL is:
http://XXXXXXXXXX/srv/en/metadata.show?uuid=e64e91d3-2fe1-46fb-b604-0733e7e48914

use the boi server name (you built it :slight_smile: to access this record

FYI, in a third party front end to a BluenetMEST node, which provides a simple browser & search facility to the underlying database, we have implemented a link using this, so from the 3rd party summarised view of the data, the user has a button to go directly to the record's "Point of truth URL" to see the full metadata entry in BluenetMEST.

I have not seen this in Geonetwork trunk, but that doesn't mean it's not there :slight_smile:
