[GeoNetwork-users] geonetwork 2.6.4 command line linstallation inux

Hi,

I am looking for detailed instructions on installing Geonetwork 2.6.4 (or
newer) on a hosted Linux machine. Tomcat is installed already and
automatically deploys java applications - I tested with the War file but I
want to install Geoserver and everything else too. I have a shared Tomcat
currently but will be upgrading to a private Tomcat so that I run jar files
directly too. I have to install through ssh without a GUI. I've set up
Geonetwork on Windows machine that I could directly control but haven't
installed on a Linux machine that I don't have root access.

A couple of questions:

1) is there an example install.xml file that I can use to tailor to my
installation - the documentation seems to suggest that I generate the
automated install xml file using the installer GUI but I can't run that in
my environment.
2) has anyone set up this successfully in a similar environment?
3) are there any detailed installation examples available?

Thanks for any information,
Sincerely,
Jerry

Hello,

I did something similar last week, gn 2.6.4, geoserver 2.2 on a debian squeeze. It will be good to use different containers for both software. I prefered to run gn in the tomcat6 (from squeeze) and geoserver with the integrated jetty. They run on different ports (8080 - tomcat6, 8180 - jetty). The geoserver is started by a start/stop script (/etc/init.d/geoserver) I use the apache2 http proxy engine to serve the different ports outside on port 80. It should not be so difficult. If you need further information, please ask.

Regards

Armin
