[GeoNetwork-users] GeoNetwork 3.12.0 and 4.0.4 released

Dear all,

We're proud to announce the releases of GeoNetwork opensource v3.12.0 and
v4.0.4 (http://geonetwork-opensource.org/).

You can find the software v3.12.0 at
https://sourceforge.net/projects/geonetwork/files/GeoNetwork_opensource/v3.12.0/
and
v4.0.4 at
https://sourceforge.net/projects/geonetwork/files/GeoNetwork_opensource/v4.0.4/

You can find a list of new functionalities and fixes in v3.12.0 at
https://geonetwork-opensource.org/manuals/trunk/en/overview/change-log/version-3.12.0.html
and
in v4.0.4 at
https://geonetwork-opensource.org/manuals/4.0.x/en/overview/change-log/version-4.0.4.html

*Important note:*

In these versions, the passwords stored in the database are encrypted, for
example for the mail or proxy servers. When the application starts, it
creates in the data directory a file called encryptor.properties with the
encryption key and encrypts the passwords in the database. The default
location for this file is
TOMCAT_DIR/webapps/geonetwork/WEB-INF/data/config/encryptor.properties (unless
you have set the data directory to an external folder).

You must back up this file and restore it to the previous location when you
upgrade to a newer version of Geonetwork; otherwise the application will
not be able to decrypt the passwords stored in the database.

If you have any improvements you want to contribute back, the best is to
use git to get a local copy of the source code, apply the fix and put out a
Pull request so your improvements can be integrated quickly. Otherwise you
can also create new Tickets in the issue tracker:
https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/issues

Thanks and congratulations to the all community members and developers that
have been putting efforts and energy in these releases!

Hi!
Great news. Only last week I put in some work on the Swedish UI. It would
have been more, had I known that a release was imminent. Is there any way
to know the release schedule and freeze points beforehand?

Mats,

Milestone dates are defined
https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/milestones and we try to
follow them.
We also try to advertise it one week before on gitter and/or dev ML but we
indeed missed it this time.
