I want to design a registration page for Geonetwork using embedded database
'Mckoi' with jetty & geoserver.
Please could any one guide how to write a customized code for it?
And whether Geonetwork uses JSP or JSF?

I'm afraid GeoNetwork doesn't use any of that technologies. For classic UI
(the default one) it uses xslt to create html pages. You can check
documentation about jeeves, the mvc framework used. If you download source
code, in jeeves/doc there's a manual about it.
In trunk and 2.8.x, alternative javascript based UI can be developed also
(see http://geonetwork-opensource.org/manuals/trunk/eng/widgets/index.html).
Possibly an option for what you require is to develop custom jsp and invoke
a GN service to manage about the registration you need to develop. In

can find a list of available services you can call from external
application.
