Hi,
I'm sorry if the question looks silly, but why is geoserver bundled with
geonetwork ? Is it customized ? Or can i change it for any standalone
geoserver ?
Is there a place where is listed what geonetwork does with geoserver ? I
can't seem to see the link between the two of them.
I mean... i know geoserver can be used for WMS service, and thus, to view
the data in intermap's interface. OK. But i could decide to do so with any
WMS server. What i mean, is "is geoserver somewhat integrated IN geonetworks
mechanism", at this time ? Are there some functionnalities that i will miss
if i decide to change the WMS server ? (to use, let's say, the latest
version of geoserver, using standalone geoserver in my tomcat installation)
Thanks
Jean

Hi Jean,
GeoServer is an optional component during the installation process. What it does provide to GeoNetwork are the base layers that you see in the InterMap viewer. Using another map server is very well possible, you just have to make InterMap aware of what layers to use as base layers in that case.
Ciao,
Jeroen
