Quick and probably pedantic question, as a new-ish GN user - must the
embedded server (default Jetty, in my installation) remain always running
for my GN catalog to work properly for any internal intranet and public
Internet use?
If this is so, it seems there would be a bit of a security risk in
(/myself/), at the same time, having to be always logged into the server on
which everything is sitting. Perhaps there is something I am not seeing
here, or a workaround. Please advise?
Thank you,

Hi,
of course the server must be kept running in order to keep providing
the service (catalog, maps etc.) to outside users. You don't need to
be logged-on the server itself, for it to work, but you might need
to be logged in your desktop session, depending on your operating
system and whether you installed it as a simple standalone application
(e.g. with Jetty and start-on-demand) or as a permanent service. The
only risks you expose yourself to are those inherent in using a
particular OS or unpatched security bugs in the software itself.
Cheers,
