[GeoNetwork-users] Harvesting CSW

Hi all,

I tried to search the user group for something that can I help me but sourceforge has an error.

Anyway I am trying to harvest from <http://s1.services.eaglegis.co.nz/niwa/csw> http://s1.services.eaglegis.co.nz/niwa/csw . It creates only ONE record in geonetwork (the one stating what all the operations are available)

I have checked the Create metadata for layer elements using GetCapabilities information.?

But made no difference.

Can someone please shed some light? Is the CSW set up incorrectly or am I missing something?

Cheers.

Kind Regards,
Petula

If you want to harvest CSW records, you should probably use the CSW
harvester and not the OGC service harvester (which create metadata for
services mainly using the GetCapabilities document).

Cheers.

Hi Petula,

Francois is right. I was also puzzled, when I first harvestet the
Capabilities-document instead of the records...

Your CSW gives me 199 metadata (total), added 198 and 1 is unretrievable.
Validation is not "on".

Greetings
Anja

Anja and Petula,

Did you use GeoNetwork Harvest Management to harvest the 199 metadata? I
am wondering how GN can do a harvesting via a POST. I used a perl a script
to send a POST request to http://s1.services.eaglegis.co.nz/niwa/csw/Harvest
with parameters:

ResourceType = http://www.opengis.net/cat/csw/2.0.2
service = http://www.opengis.net/cat/csw/2.0.2
version = 2.0.2

as instructed in its GetCapabilities. But I received a http 404 page not
found error message. So, I'd like to be sure that its harvest service is
running, and a GN harvest management can do a POST harvest.

Thank you very much.
