Hello -

    I'm getting the error

IllegalStateException : Element not found at ref =

when I attempt to save the edit of some metadata I have imported from GeoServer. I am attaching the XML of the metadata. I am seeing
the <_/> element, which appears (from one of the threads in this list) to be causing the problem, but I cannot figure out which metadata element is causing it.

Any help appreciated;

Hello Garey,

It needs something in the gmd:MD_TopicCategoryCode element to validate e.g

<gmd:MD_TopicCategoryCode>economy</gmd:MD_TopicCategoryCode>

Then your document would be valid, possibly this could help remove
the error message you are getting.

I'm having exactly the same problem on GN 2.4.2-0 on
Tomcat6/PostgreSQL8.4/Windows 2003 Server.

It happens with several users when they try to save edits on records that
originally uploaded without error, or sometimes on new records they create.

I've tried entering the fields suggested in this and related threads to no
avail. Neither does the metadata-iso19139.xsl edit do the trick.

Another twist is that I can edit and save the same records as admin and
geonetwork doesn't complain.

I'd be grateful for any further tips as this is holding up lots of work.
It's difficult enough getting people to capture metadata so when they do
this is disheartening.

My logs look similar to others reported, such as containing the <_ /> empty
tag - it's impossible to tell which field it refers to as the numbered tags
aren't in any apparent order.
