[GeoNetwork-users] ISO Metadata templates in GN v. 3.10

Dear All,

I'm working for the FAO GeoNetwork implementation and I noticed that the version 3.10 provides the following ISO metadata templates:
Geographic information -- Metadata (iso19115-3.2018)
Geographic information -- Metadata (iso19139:2007) (iso19139)

The first one seems to be the most updated and according to the ISO Organization (https://www.iso.org/standard/32579.html) the ISO/TS 19115-3:2016 defines an integrated XML implementation of ISO 19115‑1, ISO 19115‑2, and concepts from ISO/TS 19139

Could some of you confirm that this new version of ISO template can be considered the preferred one? Any constraints? Thank you in advance for any clarifications and suggestions.

Some points that would make you choose ISO19115-3
* looking for metadata on Imagery
* combine feature catalogue in the metadata of the dataset
* description of data quality measures (based on ISO19157)
* better description of dataset life cycle
* better classification of related document (eg. styling, specification, DQ
report, ...)
* and more (see https://github.com/metadata101/iso19115-3.2018 I added some
links to presentation explaining the main changes and GeoNetwork instances
using it)

Using this standard does not mean you'll not be compatible with INSPIRE.
Eg. http://metawal.wallonie.be/ contains only 19115-3 records and provides
conformant INSPIRE information.

On the plugin, it looks like Tasmania's developers (eg. Craig) are also
using it those days so we are a couple of active developers maintaining it.
You also have easy conversion to move from 19139 to 115-3.

Cheers
