Hi,
With the Spatial module for Talend, we now provide a generic job which
could be used to analyze your data and populate/update your metadata
catalog using CSW. This video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3NhA5DNnCc)
show how to install, configure and run the process in 5 min. Quite a number
of formats have been tested (eg. shp, tab, kml, gpx, dxf, ecw, pdf, tif,
asc, wfs, postgis) among all GDAL/OGR supported formats.
The workspace is shared on github :

The documentation in english is here :

Thanks to Parcs Nationaux de France for supporting the initiative.

Hi, last week was released an update of the spatial extension for Talend
[1] which contains interesting components (ie. sOGRInfo, sGDALInfo,
sCSWRequest) regarding geospatial data analysis and metadata publication.
With these components, it's even easier to build a job for crawling
metadata (some examples [2], [3], [4]).

Cheers.
