Hi Jeroen, All,
I'll also be working during the mini code sprint too but (unfortunately) not able to be present in 'real life' - so count me in as a virtual participant :-). I've added a couple of things to the list relating to schema plugins that I'd like to get done for the RC as well as helping out with the usual QA things/bug fixing.
Also, speaking of Australia/New Zealand involvement, the presentations from the AU/NZ user group meeting we had in Canberra, Australia on Nov 14 and 15, 2011 are available for download from:
http://geonetwork.mymaps.gov.au/testdownloads/GeoNetworkUserMeetingAUNov2011.html
This is an easy to navigate page, with links to the pdfs on the OSDM web site - the AU Office for Spatial Data Management/Spatial Policy hosted the workshop (thanks to OSDM/OSP and the 20 or so presenters) - you can also find the links to the presentations and other info on the OSDM/OSP GeoNetwork resources page at http://www.osdm.gov.au/Metadata/GeoNetwork/Resources/Default.aspx
Cheers and looking forward to another interesting year of GeoNetwork dev,
Simon

Subject: [GeoNetwork-devel] Happy New Year and announcement of Mini codesprint
Dear All,
Let me take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Very Good New Year! And also to thank you, the community and developers for all the activity and support to the project this year.
Currently GeoNetwork opensource is at the heart of an amazing number of National and International geoportals & registries. In Europe alone GeoNetwork provides INSPIRE catalog services for countries like Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Germany, The Netherlands, UK, Scotland, France, Spain, Swiss, Austria and Spain. There are more and more joining all the time. We have good collaboration networks set up to ensure effective cost and knowledge sharing. Also from countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada the project receives substantial support, as well as from agencies like the United Nations, EEA (European Environment Agency) and ISRIC to name a few.
All in all I'm proud to state that we are going incredibly strong and are well on our way to reach the goal of making GeoNetwork the absolute best Geospatial Catalog in the world (if it isn't already)!!!
So I invite you all to keep in sharing knowledge and code to the project and enable the world to share it's geospatial resources as Open Data services as effective as possible.
This email is also to inform you that we will start 2012 with extra energy, and have a mini codes print on GeoNetwork development in The Netherlands from 16-20 January 2012 at the GeoCat office.
The sprint will be sponsored by SwissTopo, EEA and GeoCat. One of the main goals of the sprint is to finish the work on the upcoming GeoNetwork v2.8 so we can release the first Release Candidate.
Participants are François Prunayre, Jesse Eichar, Jose Garcia, Heikki Doeleman, Paul van Genuchten, Hue Dang and myself. Obviously you are welcome to collaborate during the week. If you want to join us in real life, please contact me so we can discuss and make arrangements.
An list of things we will try to cover during the week is put up here:
http://trac.osgeo.org/geonetwork/wiki/mini-codesprint/201201-nl
Feel free to add important issues related to the v2.8 release here.
So once more, thanks to our sponsors and clients that allow the fast development of GeoNetwork. Happy New Year, cheers,
Jeroen
