A question about performance:
After how many metadata entries will GeoNetwork connected to a commercial database ( possibly MS SQL-Server) suffer from performance issues? Are there any numbers? We are envisaging on the order of 100000 to 1000000 (one hundred thousand to one million).

Hi Jean Francois,
GeoNetwork uses Lucene indexes for searching and presenting results. This does not require connecting to the database, and therefor the search performance depends on the speed of the Lucene indexes. Lucene is known to handle millions of records, you should be able to find tests on the web that analyze its performance.
Only when presenting full metadata will GeoNetwork retrieve the record from the DB.
Hope this helps, ciao,
Jeroen
