[GeoNetwork-users] The free text search cannot find a metadata updated in the background

Hi,

I update a metadata (that is, the DATA field of the METADATA table) directly
using a sqlplus sentence (Oracle). Afterwards, I go to GN, I click in the
category where the metadata is placed and I see that the metadata content is
updated properly.

However, when I try to search that metadata using the free text search, I
don't find any matches, it seems that Lucene has not indexed that metadata.
I restart Tomcat in order that the whole catalogue will be indexed again but
I get the same behavior.

There is something that I'm missing? Is there anything else that should be
done after updating the metadata via Oracle sentences?

Thanks and best regards,
Montse

Montse,
I doubt that simply restarting Tomcat would rebuild the index. Go to "Administration" page by loging in as an administrator, and click the button "Rebuild Index". After the index rebuilding is done, logout and try to search again to see if it can be searched.

Finally I updated the metadata via Java and this time it worked.

Thanks for your help.

Using the admin > rebuild index option should synchronize the index with
the db.
On restart, it will synch also if you changed the last update date in the
db I think.

Cheers.
