I am currently utilizing GeoNetwork version 3.10.2 and have recently
activated the version control system for my metadata. Despite enabling the
VCS, I am encountering an issue where changes made to my metadata aren't
reflecting under the 'Statistics' and 'Status -> Version' sections as
expected.
I'm concerned about the absence of any updates or versions displayed in
this section after making changes to my metadata. I am exploring the
possibility that this functionality may have been deprecated in the current
version I am using or there might be another underlying issue causing this
discrepancy.
My preference is to retain the current version of GeoNetwork and I am eager
to find a solution or workaround that allows me to observe the version
history of my metadata within the specified version.
If there is a recommended course of action or alternative approach to
ensure the versioning functionality operates correctly within GeoNetwork
version 3.10.2, I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions you
can provide.

I think you need to enable the Record History setting too. Check this for more details:
