The GeoServer team is pleased to announce the release of GeoServer 2.28.0.
This is the start of the final GeoServer 2 series, in preparation for the big GeoServer 3 improvements that are coming soon. However, it does address some security issues, so please upgrade as soon as reasonable.
This release requires Java 17 LTS minimum, Java 11 is no longer supported. See other Upgrade Instructions.
Other major improvements include upgrading from Java Advanced Imaging 1.1.3 to Eclipse ImageN 0.9.0, Symbology Encoding Functions and a new OAuth2 OpenID Connect community module to replace all the existing ones. Read the announcement for all the details.
