GeoServer 2.28.3 Release missing windows installer

Hi all,

I’m trying to update Geoserver to the last version 2.28.3 but the link on the release notes page to the windows installer does not work.

The “/GeoServer/2.28.3/Ge..-2.28.3-winsetup.exe” file could not be found or is not available. Please select another file.

Is this awaiting something or forgotten?

Thank you for your report @cvd . I believe it has to do with an outdated certificate, which is in the process of being replaced. It’s also the reason why the 3.0-RC also doesn’t have a Windows download yet.

Does anyone want to automate a test to catch this on the build server earlier?

Peter

Hi @Peter, I believe the new release 2.28.4 has the same issue…

GeoServer → click Windows installer

Is this is a systematic issue for windows installers?

Yes, it’s a problem with all of the recent Windows installers: an expired application certificate.

Thanks, is there a fix for this on the horizon?

Yes, hang in there!

Okay, we got the certificate - and I have uploaded the signed windows installer to Source Forge. Can you test and confirm it works please?

That said due to some increased security building the windows installer is no longer smoothly integrated with build.geoserver.org - so this required a manual step of me uploading to source forge (sigh).

Thanks @jive , I was able to download and install 2.28.4 successfully.

I believe this MS Defender SmartScreen is normal for a newly published app:

I believe the other series’ missing WinInstallers have not been manually uploaded yet.

Peter

Thanks for the fix!
