[Geoserver-devel] 2.1-RC5 release status

Done:
- tag, build and deploy GeoTools 2.7.0.2
- tag, build and deploy GeoServer 2.1-RC5
- upload on sourceforge the artifacts that I could create (larger
artifacts still uploading as I write this mail)

To do:
- OSX installer
- PDF docs (anybody on Linux able to generate them?)
- release announcements (in which we pretty much say that there are
some fixes for regressions since
  2.0.x)

Anybody can help?

Cheers
Andrea

Forgot to add, the download page is also ready, but I did not make it
the default content of the "latest" page, waiting for everything to be
in order to proceed on that.

One down, I've just prepared a tentative blog post for the release.
If you have blog edit rights please check and review here:

I guess the same message as the blog post can be reused for the mail
announcements.

OSX installer and PDF needs to be done before we can announce.

Looks good. I made a couple very minor language tweaks.

Thanks for pushing this out Andrea. I’m crossing my fingers that this is the good one

Ok, figure out how to generate the pdf on Linux (was missing one package,
I've updated the Ubuntu install guide in the docguide), so generated and
uploaded the PDF too.

Really don't have any OSX machine though, nor does any of my colleagues
OSX install package (or OSX hardware donations) gladly accepted

Mac installer up.

btw, i noticed that none of the platform dependent flags were set on the exe and -bin artifacts so people on windows don’t get the quick link to the windows installer, etc… time to update the release guide with new sourceforge instructions.

Duh, tripped on the keyboard and sent before I could finish the sentence.
I wanted to say, I'd prefer to re-release RC5 as is after one week, but
if we get a reason to do RC6 then yep, definitely gong to get in.

Don't feel strongly on this one, with good cross review we can also release
2.1.0 final with that one change

Yeah, I am ok with this too. I can;t recall ever actually doing an official point release that was exactly the same as the previous release candidate. So if the change is minimal I am ok with just releasing 2.1.0 with it. If its risky then I would say let’s do an RC6. If its risky and not critical for 2.1.0 I would say maybe consider pushing it back until after.

2c.
