[Geoserver-devel] Adding ExtendedCapabilities to WFS capabilities

Hi,

For inspire we need to add ows:ExtendedCapabilities elements to the WFS GetCapabilities document. That seems to require similar code as for WMS like ExtendedCapabilitiesProvider. Should I just add all the same hooks and equivalent code or is there another way you would recommend going about this. (or did I miss the hooks when doing the code review?)

Jesse

Hey Jesse,

Yeah, it only exists for wms since at the time that was the requirement. But I think the same interface could work well enough for the other services as well.

My general approach would be to try and factor out a more general interface from the current ExtendedCapabilitiesProvider that lives in the wms module, make it generic in terms of service, etc… Probably throwing the new interface in the main module. Then deprecate the wms specific interface in favor of the new one.

Finally it would be a matter of just updating of the capabilities operations to process the new etension point the same way wms does now.

Make sense?

Interesting timing for this message :-). I have finished this work several months ago and have been planning on making the pull request this or next week because I finally have a little time. Since this week is done I guess next week I will make the request available.

First we need a pull request for master branch (2.3.x), once the changes to core have been assessed
we can talk about a backport on the stable series.

That said, if you make also the 2.2.x patches available people willing to apply them manually on the sources
can try them out
