[Geoserver-devel] App-Schema online tests (take 2)

Hello Ben

Mike has been taking a look at setting up SC40 on the Oracle database used by ares for online tests, so that we can get the app-schema oracle tests working.

He has found that SC40 requires Oracle 11g or older, however our server is 12g.

This means that 3D geometrry support in app-schema will not work for Oracle 12g, and consequently the app-schema pluggin is only fully supported on Oracle 11g or older.

Jody mentioned that we might be able to get in touch with Simone Greener and get a new version of SC40 that supports Oracle 12g - would you be able to reach out to him Ben?

Thanks,

Torben.

Torben and Mike,

my understanding is that SC4O is used only for 3D WKT parsing to set up the app-schema Oracle 3D test fixture. I expect that 3D geometries will work without it for app-schema, as they do for simple features. The problem is getting them into Oracle.

I have submitted a web form (copied below) enquiring as to whether the updated code published in Simon's book (and the PACKT website) supports Oracle 12g. I will report back if I receive a response.

Kind regards,
Ben.

Simon,

SC4O was used for GeoServer application schema plugin integration testing for 3D geometries against Oracle 11g. However, the version available from your website does not support Oracle older than 11g. A community participant has offered to get these tests going again, but has Oracle 12g:
http://osgeo-org.1560.x6.nabble.com/App-Schema-online-tests-take-2-td5267277.html
SC4O is used for WKT parsing of 3D geometries:
http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/developer/programming-guide/app-schema/index.html#d-tests

- Does your book contain an updated version of SC4O with support for Oracle 12g or later?

- Alternatively, does Oracle 12g support WKT parsing of 3D geometries?

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards,
Ben.
