Go for it (we have no formal commit rights procedure for GeoServer, as
there is no PMC. Perhaps soon we may look into it, as we may have
critical mass with Gabriel, Alessio, and Jody.)
You know the procedure? Maybe check with Jody, it used to be just email
Paul Ramsey, but I think they may have got a sys admin who handles it
now.

I'm all for it too.
And also agree we can start thinking/cloning such a procedure, since it is expected more people get involved in the near future thanks to the geos2/opensdi initiative, and we should be ready to afford some responsibilities beyond contributing when possible (that's for me).
