Hello,
I’d like to get permission to create a new community module that would output a new format called CZML(similar to the core kml module or the dds community module). The main use would be to display the data from Geoserver into a time dynamic 2D/3D virtual globe called Cesium. http://cesium.agi.com/
Thanks
Matt Ford

Just played a bit with Cesium. Very nice, is it open source?
Did you look at the contributors guide, have you signed the contributor
agreement already?
See here:

Andrea,
Yes, Cesium is open sourced under the Apache 2.0 license. I have not signed the contributor agreement since it looked like it was only needed to promote the community module into a core module(which we’d like to do, but aren’t ready).
Regards
Matt

Actually, it’s needed to promote it to extension already
Anyways, +1 on the community module. Have you signed up on xircles.codehaus.org and asked
to join geoserver as a developer?
We’ll also need your github account.
Cheers

Andrea,
I’m not sure if we can do this, but I figure it can’t hurt to ask. I’d like to fork geoserver with our github account AnalyticalGraphicsInc. We’ll most likely have a number of contributors from that organization and forking it there will make things a lot easier.
Thanks
Matt

Ah, of course for this you don’t need any authorization from us.
In fact, now that I think about it, the only benefit I can think of about having a community module in the GeoServer
own git repo is that you can ask for it to be built and included in the nightly builds here:
http://gridlock.opengeo.org/geoserver/2.2.x/
This at least makes sure the module compiles with the build of the day. But until you reach that point
you can just keep it in your own fork without issues as far as I know
Cheers

Thanks Andrea! I’m assuming when we’re ready, all it will take to get into the Geoserver git repo as a community module will be a pull request?
Best regards,
Matt

Yep, I guess so (we switched to git recently so we still have to find our “way of doing things”
with it)
Cheers
