So some of you have already been playing with a pre-announced version 
But I just put up an updated release. If you've been playing ahead of
time then please download again, as there are a few little bug fixes
(Like a message on the login page telling you what the log in is!
(yes, we'll improve that for 1.2.0). This release is definitely due to
the huge work of the refractions team, and we're looking forward to
ironing out the last bugs with your help. Please report any errors, as
usual, to our jira task tracker -

especially interested in feedback on linux (and apologize for not
testing more with it for the release).
The release includes the long awaited web based administration
interface, so we're mostly looking for feedback on that. Hopefully the
core functionality should work just as before, but with a few little
improvements. It is available here:

This is also the first time we've offered a binary release, the
geoserver.war file can be dropped right into your servlet container.
Source releases are still available, and docs can be downloaded as
