[Geoserver-devel] GPX WPS ppio community module

Hi,
I would like to propose the creation of a new WPS PPIO encoder
module that turns feature collections into GPX tracks and point:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_eXchange_Format

The encoder is pretty simple, and works for point and line source
data.

While we’d like to see this become also a WFS output format,
there is no short term resourcing to work on it.

Anyways, feedback? Or votes to setup the community module?

Cheers
Andrea

+1. Is the plan to set up a generic gpx module that would eventually contain all the output formats? Or just a module dedicated to the wps ppio? Just curios as we did something similar for geopackage recently and decided to have a single module with all the output formats + the wps process in it.

You mean, when we'll have the wfs output format too? Yes, I can see having
a gpx-core, gpx-wfs, gpx-wps,
or do like dxf, gpx and gpx-wps,
although you'll see, the classes are pure java and really small, eventually
we could really just merge
the shared portion in wfs and the ppio in wps (if/when when we're
comfortable upgrading that to core, that is)
