[Geoserver-devel] GSIP 44 - move to vote

Hi all,

The discussion for GSIP 44 has wound down so it would be great if the PSC could officially vote on it.

Thanks a bunch.

Hello Justin,
about this GSIP, I would like to have just a clarification … the virtual services behaviour applies only when specifying the workspace, is that right? I guess it’s important to preserve also the old behaviour unless an administrator would like to explicitly obscure it.

Hi Alessio,

Yes, it won't affect anything that accesses services the classic way like:

http://…/geoserver/wfs?request=…

It will only engage if a client explicitly accesses via a workspace/virtual service:

http://…/geoserver/topp/wfs?request=…

We could add a flag to allow the admin to explicitly allow this behavior but since the client has to explicitly invoke it, it would be sort of unnecessary. Since the dispatcher will currently throw an exception for a url of this form it is unlikely that any clients are relying on this behavior.
