Hi guys - in todays IRC meeting (Gabriel what IRC meeting can you attend?) I went over a conversation I had with cholmes where I found that he was a) out of the loop and b) swamped with osgeo work. No worries
So I am going to volunteer as team lead for a couple of weeks to help Chris out. You can check the geoserver meeting logs for the details. Best case senario is Dave Blasby (a project lead extraordinar) will be tagged in to take over. Dave does not especially like risk, and I am hoping we are past the risky part by then
Once again this is a cross project project
- GeoTools - Justin on implementation
- GeoAPI - Jody on API (with Bryce kicking hard to make sure it will stand up)
- Gabriel - on branch recovery (tm) and ArcSDE wonderment
Once again I am volunteering on this one, and Chris is still tagged to sort out any biz issues
So I am going to:
- put issues (from the website and email) into Jira; and
- organize them into the milestones.
- send out a weekly status report
The first milestone is at the end of this month, with the target of having GeoTools and GeoServer trunk sorted out.
How can you help?
- One of my biggest risks is the GeoAPI build (lack of) process, currently Justin is making datestamped jars via some kind of voodoo.xml ant script.
- Check out the GeoServer and GeoTools branches
- buy Justin beer
Next month there will be more for volunteers to do ; if you want WFS1.1, and can put aside some time, this is a great time to get involved in the community.
Cheers,
Jody
