[Geoserver-devel] Support for extending REST functionalities; user administration

Hi,

I have two features where I would like to find development resources for.
Both address the ability to let a "normal" user administrate it's own stores, layers and styles over rest and the geoserver webui.
I found it very practical to use geoserver with geofence and to give proper admin access rules. But there is no REST-endpoint to manage "admin rules" without UI. So that is one thing that I miss. (https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOS-7684). Another thing is that the user should be able to change (only) his own password through REST, even it does not have the role "ADMIN". Something that I also miss (https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOS-7763).

Would there be any support for that? It was even quite hard to get commercial support or an offer to get it implemented.

Thanks for feedback and support!

GeoFence has its own custom REST API - http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/community/geofence-server/rest.html
Are you talking about adding functionality to this rest api? Or to the GeoServer rest api …

Reviewing those two issues, marked them both as “GeoFence” (based on the discussion I expect that is correct).

Hi, is there anyone who can point to a contact where I could get (commercial) support for this feature? Contributors did not react on my latest requests…

I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Thanks,

Hi,
commercial support providers are listed here:

http://geoserver.org/support/

Moreover, basically anyone with commit access to GeoServer has seen this mail thread by now (in case they are not listed over there, they can contact you directly).

Cheers
Andrea

Hi

Please contact me, I did a lot of the security staff in the past.

I simply forgot to answer due to lack of time.
