foss4g update / feedback

We should share some slides on our blog…

  • Gabe and jody also have a CVE blog post action item

Great conference, location wonderful, food, …

  • 14 parallel sessions, so many presentations
(Ian and andera had duplicate GS3 presentations!)
  • Peter helped at the workshops (thanks!)

Themes:

  • AI: Influence as a normal working tool, here as what we do with it.
    • Some projects are however considering a ban (example creating qgis plugins)
  • Japan has a 3D viewing focus, key sponsor and so on
  • Other fun project updates

    • TITiler (development seed, Python [GDAL+Rasterio] tiler)
  • Lots of positive feedback on GeoServer and GS3 improvements
  • Lots of OSGeo folks from Europe attending

pull-request checking

Any stalled PRs that need help?

Anything else for pending:

  • ogapi-maps: can be marked pending (waiting on ogc cite test PRs)
  • ogcapi-tiles: needs one fix, conformance class enable/disable
  • jwt-headers
  • cog - need a clear expression on need for autoconfig buffer header thing (only works out of the box for small files)

Chit Chat

How is everyone doing! Welcome back from foss4g

geoserver-security list, should retire inactive folk (welcome to rejoin at any time).

  • We do need more volunteers, if you have capacity please email

We should clean up old users with geoserver commit access who haven’t contributed in a while; merits a GSIP to amend current project policy

Updates?

  • jira is down!
We got an invoice assumed it was junk mail; jody will phone support to see if we can restore.
  • What happened to github issues migration?
Andera: Fun idea, too busy, but will return …
  • What happened to download.osgeo.org?
Torben: Not yet, some back and forth waiting for write access on OSGeo SAC.
Update: Folders created by SAC progress can continue.
  • osgeo website being replaced (like QGIS), taking shape here:
    https://gitea.osgeo.org/osgeo/website_hugo
  • geoserver-security resources

Follow up to meeting, working with Atlassian Support to restore Jira services:

  • Phoned Thursday, and the ticket was passed to billing as the site has been deactivated
  • Followed up this morning, it is being escalated, and I was able to upload screen snaps of their quite confusing billing system (in one place it notes the “fee plan”, however the “reactivate” button is associated with a “standard plan”, and I cannot see the details of any quotes or pricing).

I will continue to work with support, and osgeo treasurer if needed to restore access.

Jody

Jira is restored!

Notes: We are on the “Standard” open source plan, so we maintain our 2000 user limit, although apparently we can “deactivating” historical users and we will not lose their history.

Excellent news, thank you Jody!
