I’m pretty new to GeoServer and am beginning to have a look at creating new Data Stores etc.
I began with a couple of vector maps and shapefiles. (Austria and Germany)
On the “geoserver/welcome.do” page I selected “Welcome / Config / Data / DataStores / New”.
Then selected “Shapefile” from the DataSet description drop down menu and then went through the creation of Feature Types etc.
That all seemed to work fine and when I went to “Welcome / Demo / Map Preview” my new dataStores were listed.
I then created some coverage stores of CADRG maps of Florida (RPFTiles) by selecting “Config / Data / Coverage Stores / New” and entering the url of the ‘.tif’ files.
This also seemed to work OK and these were also in the list when I did “Welcome / Demo / Map Preview”.
I pointed my client application at my wms server and displayed my vector maps (Austria and Germany) and my CADRG maps (Florida).
So far so good. At this point I shut the server down and went home.
When I restarted the Server the maps of Austria and Germany, i.e. the vector maps, were still in the list when I did a “Welcome / Demo / Map Preview” but the CADRG data (Florida) was no longer listed and therefore no longer accessible from the client application.
I ended up selecting "Config / Data / Coverage Stores " then deleting the Coverage Stores, then re-creating them and after I had done that they were back in the list of maps and available to the client application.
I then stopped and restarted my GeoServer service. Having done that the CADRG data was missing once again from the MapPreview list.
Does anybody know what I’m doing wrong, or does this always happen ?
Thanks
Peter Turvey
