I’ve just discovered that if I go to the CSS style editor, choose “Create a new style”, then press the “Create” button, seemingly nothing happens.
The spinning animation appears very briefly, but that’s it.
Does this mean that my data_dir is screwed?
Reloading Configuration and catalog doesn’t seem to help.
Best regards,
Simon

Hi David,
It doesn’t seem to be memory related (when looking using VisualVM). We use: -Xmx2048M and –XX:MaxPermSize=128m.
The maximum the perm gen goes to is about 80MB and the heap about 750MB.
Perhaps there’s some extra work going on with the new UI that’s not related to the conversion.
I’ll share the CSS in a private email.
Thank you,
Simon

I didn’t know about any performance decrease for the CSS extension in GeoServer 2.3 compared to 2.2 - to my knowledge they are using the exact same conversion routine. It’s possible that GeoServer is “locking up” due to memory use - what are your JVM settings? (in particular the -Xmx and -XX:MaxPermSize options are of interest.) If you don’t mind sharing your CSS style I’d be interested in seeing it as well.
I do have some changes that I’ve been sitting on for a while which should improve performance, I’ll try and get those released ASAP.

Hiya,
When using the CSS plugin and pressing the Submit button to save a CSS style, it seems to be MUCH slower in GeoServer 2.3.x than 2.2.x versions.
For our larger styles (150 lines of CSS becoming 1200 lines of SLD) it has gone from a reasonable speed,
to forcing us to restart GeoServer rather than wait for it to finish. Has anyone else noticed this?
Also (only tried in GeoServer 2.3.1) , using mark: url() now forces us to specify a protocol, is this expected?
Many thanks
