[Geoserver-users] Display a raster without black background around

Hi the team !

I am a french user of GS.

I would display a raster (.tiff). No problem, it runs, but I have a black
background around the picture.

I have tried many SLD styles, in 3 bands or 1 band, but without success.

In fact, I can hide this black background in 1 band, but I lost colors of
my raster, and I would keep "true" colors.

Can you help me ? What do you recommend me ?

Hey!

You could load this coverage as "1 tile" ImageMosaic. The you'd have the
full control over the input / output transparency.

Or even better yet, cut this raster into smaller tiles and make an actual
mosaic.

OK thanks, but I do not understand.

Adding a tiff in a single band, I can remove the black-background but I
loose true colors, like here :
http://geo-ids.fr:9322/geoserver/hgmap/wms?service=WMS&version=1.1.0&request=GetMap&layers=hgmap:courdi_drone1&styles=&bbox=1.9988911320862897,49.03402197991782,2.0052071448892046,49.03839262998014&width=512&height=354&srs=EPSG:4326&format=application/openlayers
<http://geo-ids.fr:9322/geoserver/hgmap/wms?service=WMS&version=1.1.0&request=GetMap&layers=hgmap:courdi_drone1&styles=&bbox=1.9988911320862897,49.03402197991782,2.0052071448892046,49.03839262998014&width=512&height=354&srs=EPSG:4326&format=application/openlayers>

How can I set true colors ?

And if I use "Image Mosaic", I must create directory with my raster into,
but I think it is not necessary, no ?

Ciao Georges,
if you want to publish this dataset as a single geotiff, when you
configure the coverage you can specify a transparent color, in your
case black (#000000).
This is not something you can do with SLD:

Let me know if this helps.

Simone Giannecchini
