[Geoserver-users] Enabling Verbose Logging (VERBOSE_LOGGING) in GeoServer 2.4

Hello,

is there a possibility to enable Verbose Logging (VERBOSE_LOGGING) manually or is this logging profile enabled by default? The documentation is a little bit unclear.
How can I get the verbose logging and logging in debug level respectivly?

Best regards,

Toni

Hi Toni,

by default DEFAULT_LOGGING should be enabled.

It seems to me that in 2.4.x you may set it from web interface GLOBAL SETTING section as usual.

Cheers,

Stefano

Hi Toni,
In the GeoServer admin page, if you go to the “Global” settings, you’ll see a bunch of settings for logging.
For debug level you’ll want “GEOTOOLS_DEVELOPER_LOGGING”.
There’s a checkbox for verbose logging (don’t actually know what it does!) and you can log to the console (Log to StdOut) too.
Cheers,
Jonathan

It's verbose exception reporting, that is, return a full stack trace in the
OGC ServiceException reports, instead of just
a summary of the messages in them

I was going to update the docs to reflect that, but it seems to already be in there.
