Checking the stackoverflow link, this was more of a geootols user list question … with an example program missing some batik dependencies required to access and draw SVG graphics.
Passing on the response from Aniket Joshi:
This issue is resolved for me. The bug is due to missing library batik-codec and firewall issues for the external links.
