Hi,
I know the GeoServer read in Oracle (SDO) format and SQL Server format. I would like know if the GeoServer read data from ArcSDE in format SDE.
Best Regards,
Fernando Quadro

Hi Fernando,
yes, GeoServer reads ArcSDE.
To fetch data from ArcSDE GeoServer uses the ESRI ArcSDE Java libraries so the underlying column type and storage format is transparent to GeoServer.
Hope that answers your question.

Gabriel

Yup. See http://docs.geoserver.org/1.7.x/en/user/data/arcsde.html
It's a bit more involved since ESRI doesn't make their api jars available, so the user has to add them to the right location. But the support is pretty solid, there are a few major GeoServer users that store all their data in arcsde. Vectors have been supported for awhile, and MassGIS has lead the charge for rasters. Every ArcSDE raster type is now supported, and Gabriel just made improvements to make the user interface to add them a bit better. Writing through WFS-T is also supported.
best regards,
Chris

Thanks, Chris, for the link.
I am currently trying to get familiar with ESRI server software and I
am unsure of the terminology.
If I install 'ArcGISServer' (including SOC - Server Object Container)
from the ArcGISServer 9.3 CD is 'ArcSDE' 9.3 in place, or do I have to
install something else?

David Collins

Yeah, it should be in place, as far as I know. They rebranded their server suite all as ArcGIS server. I believe 'ArcGIS Server Basic' is equivalent to ArcSDE, and should be the core of all ArcGIS Server instances.
So it should be there if I've got my esri branding terms right.

Chris
