[Geoserver-users] geoserver doesn´t work right

Hallo,

I have got a problem to start my geoserver. After installing on Windows XP I
tried to upload a new DataStore.
When I hit the SAVE button I get an exception 'The following exception was
thrown:
java.lang.NullPointerException '. From this time it's impossible to start
geoserver for a second time.
(I get:XML document structures must start and end within the same entity.)

I've noticed that a lot of "SRS" (SRS-LIST on mainmenu) are missing. There
are only about 10 entries.

An reinstallation of Java and Geoserver was unsuccessful.

Thank you

Hum, can you do the following things?
- uninstall geoserver
- look for the GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR environment variable and remove it
(locate "my computer", properties, advanced, environment variables)
- go into c:\documents and settings\<your user>\Local Settings\Temp\ and
wipe out the eventual "Geotools" directory you'll find there (beware,
"local settings" can have a different name, it's usually localized,
for example on my italian system it's "Impostazioni Locali"
- reinstall GeoServer

This should cure what you're seeing. If not, contact us back, or if you
can, join the GeoServer irc channel where we can chat about this issue.

Cheers
