[Geoserver-users] GeoServer2.0 layer.xml and coverage.xml file

I am using GeoServer 2.0,
Now,I want to know each elements’s means in layer.xml and coverage.xml of Geoserver’s data_dir/worksapces/ .

Direct modification of the data directory is not supported, the
storage format can change unexpectedly.

If you want to automate changes to the GeoServer configuration
look into the REST configuration extension.

That said, the elements you see in those xml files are the same
you see in the user interface.
I don't think we have documentation about that, but you could try
to figure out the meaning of each and submit a documentation patch
that we can review, correct where the guesses are wrong, and integrate.
