[Geoserver-users] Mosaicing MrSids

Well, now the MrSID plugin works, onto the next step.

Can I use the ImageMosaicing with MrSID files? or what would be the
prefered way to create a Coverage Data Set of a bunch of overlapping MrSid files?

Yeah,
I have been using them that way lately.
I need probably to back port a few fixes on the coveragetools from
geotools trunk, but I have had feedback from a few users on using
mosaic of mrsid files.

Thanks Simone,

Is this still true, that we have to build MosaicIndexBuilder to use it? And will it work with MrSID?

Using MosaicIndexBuilder
This tool is authored by Simone Giannecchini, and can be found in the Geotools Subversion repository http://svn.geotools.org/trunk/modules/unsupported/coveragetools
Advantages: All-in-one solution–no need to manually edit and create .properties or a .prj file.
Disadvantages: Requires you to download and build the tool. However, this is easily accomplished if you have Eclipse installed, and a SVN checkout of gt-trunk.

Actually, yeah, it would be quite easily to buila GUI around the
coverage tools since they basically are structured in a way that tehy
can be run from Swing. The motivation to build such a GUI has always
been there, while time has always been a problem, I guess :-).

And
will it work with MrSID?

Yeah.
If you have some test data to share, I can check with such test data.

Dear Simone,
Thank you again!

Perhaps you misunderstood, I’m comfortable with a commandline utility, a GUI isn’t required. However, getting the SVN code, and compiling the Java code, is a little beyond me right now.

Do you have a pre-built MosaicIndexBuilder.exe for Windows?

If you want to try the sample:

http://www.topodepot.com/topodepotdownload/doqmrsid/raster_roger.zip

Thanks,
Roger

Dear Roger,
baseline is that I need to spend a few days on the tools and bring
them up to supported state as well as build some sort of prebuilt
binaries for them.
I have downloaded you data, I am going to play a bit with them and
I'll send you back a prepared mosaic.
Btw, does this mean that you have successfully installed imageio-ext?

Simone.
