[Geoserver-users] naming feature types

Hi,

The name of a feature type is preset to the table name from the database right? So is there any way to override this name in order that I can have different feature types setup which actually refer to the same table but with different styles. I know I could do this in the WMS URL but I want to have the feature types setup on the server really.

cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,

There is actually already a jira issue for this:

http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-1366

Its scheduled for 1.6.x. Perhaps Andrea can comment on when he thinks it
will actually get into a release.

Well, this is a Chris call, not mine

Can I vote for this

Actually I think this should include property names as well. Mine are so cryptic like the feature type names (which are table names that I cannot control).

Anyway, I don't care about a UI - yet - and I'm willing to edit a info.xml file to get the pretty names I want.

Cheers,

Ugo

Cool. I have added my vote to it. btw, I was very pleased to discover we can now set up multiple wms feature type groups. I was going to request that but never got round to it, so props for that!

Tom

You may create a view (or many) over the table you have and give it the name you want to.

Hope this help

Fernando.
