I'm using GeoServer 1.5.2. There's a few posts about spatial filters but
they don't appear to be quite the same issue. If I use ogc:BBOX in a Filter
it works fine but ogc:Contains, ogc:Within and ogc:Intersects all fail with
an out of memory exception.
As I understand it, BBOX should be exactly the same as Intersects and both
Contains and Within should return less data.
I noticed there are no examples other than BBOX and Intersects on the sample
requests page. Does Geoserver support Contains and Within .. & .. Can anyone
shed any light on why it's blowing my memory allocation?

Hum, the first thing to check is if the same issue occurs in GeoServer 1.6.0. The 1.5.x series is closed, no more bug fixing will be made
there.
If it's still there, open a bug report on jira.codehaus.org and attach
sample data and sample request to reproduce your issue, detailing
jvm used, operating system, and datastore used.

Hi,
While taking part in development of WFS plugin for OpenJUMP I tested all
those filters against Geoserver 1.5. They worked fine for me. The
featuretype I tested the filters against was quite a large Oracle spatial table.
