Hi,
I want to realize feature locking directly on my Postgis DB. Is this possible?
The http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOS/Postgis+Locking site is not very informative for me
Thanx
Andreas

Hmmm, that page is two years old now. Can you be more specific about
what you want to do? Out of the box a GeoServer LockFeature request
should work if backed by a postgis database.

I'm pretty sure what he wants is for a LockFeature to GeoServer to make it so other applications can't modify the features locked in PostGIS. Which is not how it works right now.
The sad thing is that as part of that project Refractions modified PostGIS to work with the kind of locks that WFS demands, but the code for GeoServer to call that somehow got lost. It likely wouldn't be all that hard to code it up again, since the interfaces are there and the code to do it in PostGIS is there. But it will take a bit of work.
But do note that if you aren't using other applications against your PostGIS backend then the locking will work fine.

Hi Chris & Justin,
thank you for your swift answer. I just thought that locking features is
possible directly on the DB. But all pages about the topic it were older
than 2 years. So it seemed to be a dead topic.
Are there any plans to re-realize this functionality?
Thanx, Andi
I currently know of no organizations with plans to re-realize this functionality. But like I said, most of the pieces are already there, so with a bit of funding it would not be too hard to re-implement it. Or if any organization wants to code it, we can definitely help direct on what work needs to be done.
best regards,
Chris
