Ciao Amos,
the actual development branch in svn (which is here btw
https://svn.codehaus.org/geoserver/branches/wcs-branch/trunk/geoserver/)
is based on the trunk of the official GeoServer and on the coverage
branch of Geotools (which is in turn aligned with 2.3.x trunk). There
is no ready build for the moment but there is going to be one soon
since the new development for the actual relase is over and we are
just fixing bugs and making minor but useful improvements.
Adding a specific README-WCS-Branch.txt is a good idea and I think we
will steal it from you!
In case you have other questions, drop me an email. Anyway I am
thinking about putting an experimental 0.4 ( we did much more than
planned for 0.3) as soon as the image mosaic plugin settles down (10
days at most).
We need some patience since this work is done under consultancy
funding for a bigger project, therefore our efforts are driven by
external needs and deadlines.
Simone.

Thank you very much ... I will response all your questions as soon as
possible. Moreover if you need some more information or explanation feel
free to ask us.What I can quickly tell to you right now is that there is an advanced
release on subversion trunk under development aligned with GeoServer 1.3.0
and GeoTools 2.3.x - Coverage Branch.
However we will release a new rlease of GeoServer WCS very soon with a lot
of improvements.Regards,
