[Geoserver-users] Restrict simultaneous logins for same user

Hi all,

i have created a wms service with users, roles etc in geoserver.
Is it possible to disable the simultaneous login
with the same user name-password?

Hi Sakis,

Do you want to restrict users to one http session? E.g., you'd be able to log into the web ui in two tabs/windows and use a tiled slippy map (which would make multiple WMS requests at the same time).

I'm unaware of any quick way to do that. I think one could create an AuthenticationFilter and add it to the Filter Chain or do something at the container level.

I think there'd be some tricky corner cases... It might be worth considering commercial support here: http://geoserver.org/support/.

My wms service is used in autocad Map-Qgis and
i simply don't want two or more users connecting
with the same credential at the same time.

Hi all

WMS is a stateless service. As a consequence each request has to be authenticated. There is no session and no logout. What is the problem if a user triggers multiple WMS requests ?
