Hi,
I tested with Geoserver 2.6 by opening the line.sld with Styles editor (copy from existing style). It does validate for me.
What Geoserver version you have? Maybe the error with Abstract has corrected later. I may also have a different “line.sld”, it has on line 14

Hi All
I’m in the process of getting our GeoServer up and running here, and I’ve hit what is either a snag or a curio. If I edit one of the existing pre-supplied styles (let’s say ‘line’), and I don’t change a single thing, and then go to Validate, I get the following unexpected error:
- line 9: cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element ‘sld:Abstract’. One of ‘{“http://www.opengis.net/sld”:FeatureTypeStyle}’ is expected.
To reiterate, these are the pre-supplied SLDs and they haven’t been edited at all. Anyone have any idea what might be going on?
