[Geoserver-users] Strange Neon Blocks in GWC

Hi All,

I have a problem when my map draws from GWC. On certain scales 1:1000, 1:2000, I get strange neon (Turquoise, Purple, etc) blocks in random spots. this only happens in GWC and not through WMS. What can possibly be causing this? See screenshot.

PS. The layer causing the problem is from an “ImagePyramid Store” with GeoTIFF. It uses the default “raster” style.

Best Regards

Hi,
I don't remember seeing this particular problem, the block shape and
distribution is... perplexing
So no clue, I'm going to make some more questions to help reduce the
context of the issue.
Does it happen in all caching formats? png vs jpeg in particular
Do you have more installation details, like for example, OS, if you have
imageio native extension installed?

Hi Andrea,

This happens on JPEG as well as PNG, and at random locations. If I reseed it dissapears from original location but again appear in new location. Totally random. We run Geoserver 2.11.0 on Ubuntu 16.04 with imageio native extension installed.

Try removing the native extensions then (they are know to misbehave on
occasion,
and since they were closed source, they cannot be fixed).

Regarding:

“Try removing the native extensions.”

A lot of articles on the web regarding how to install Native JAI and Native JAI IOImage, but nowhere I can get instructions of how to remove it from geoserver. Can someone point me in right direction?
