Hi,
I`m trying to do a project where I can visualize geographic data in 2D and
3D at the same time, with the help of google earth plug-in. Like this:
http://demo.mapfish.org/mapfishsample/1.1/examples/earth/earth.html
So basically i want to show a WMS in the map view and KML of the same data
in the 3D view, at the same time. Is this possible to do by setting up a WMS
from a shapefile in geoserver and just making two "getMap" calls with
different output formats?
If not, is there some other ways of displaying data from a shapefile in 2D &
3D at the same time?
I`m grateful for all the help I can get!
Cheers
Erlend

Hi Erlend,
Yes, I think it would be possible. If your data has a height or elevation attribute you can set up geoserver to produce 3D KML with info from there:
http://geoserver.org/display/GEOSDOC/04-Height+Templates
It will be ignored by other WMS output formats... so your "wms view" will remain flat.
